Man shot; brother arrested

A man was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained as a result of a gunshot, according to police, who were dispatched to a residence on Nemett Circle at 1;37 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16.

The adult male received emergency medical treatment at the scene and was then transported to a hospital for further care, according to a press release. The injury was determined not to be life-threatening.

A 17-year-old male, brother to the victim, was taken into custody by police officers at the scene. The juvenile, who appeared to be intoxicated, was transported to the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center for initial incarceration, according to police.

Pea Ridge Police Department supervisors and crime scene technician/detective were called to the scene to assist. The residence was secured by officers while a search warrant was prepared. The search warrant was obtained in the early morning hours and executed at 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16.

Processing the scene included photography and evidence collection. Evidence collected included firearms and ammunition. Officers cleared from the scene and the search was concluded at approximately 7:18 a.m.

The juvenile was initially criminally charged with Domestic Battery second degree (Class D Felony) 5-26-304. Charges may be adjusted or added to upon completion of the on-going investigation, but there are no other suspects in this case and there is no concern for citizen safety at this time, according to Police Det. Sgt. Brandon Davis.
