City sells buildings

"We've sold City Hall and sold the library," Mayor Jackie Crabtree said at the end of the February City Council meeting. "Ray bought the library. We're doing the closing this Friday (Feb. 24)."

In a special City Council meeting Jan. 24, all four City Council members met to review offers presented for the building which housed the library and was formerly the Bank of Pea Ridge. Offers were $30,000 from William and Pam Clifton; $37,000 from Ray Easley; and $37,500 from Judd Investments. Easley's proposal included the seller to pay all closing costs.

The building was appraised for $39,000. Council members agreed to reject all three proposals as the building had not been for sale for long, hoping to receive more money. Council members authorized the mayor to negotiate the sale of the building.

The mayor said Easley bought the building for $39,500.

The old City Hall building sold for $145,000 to Roy Cotton of Cotton Homes LLC.
