Town considers expert help

GARFIELD -- City Council members asked for more information after hearing a presentation from Allison Wolf with ER Assist to seek aid from FEMA.

Mayor Gary Blackburn said damage from rains from April 26 to May 19 this year are twice what it was from the 2015 disaster and the city would benefit from Wolf's expertise.

"My reasonsings are that we're approaching a project that may well be above my paygrade. I think I did the very best I could on that disaster. This one being bigger, we need help if we're going to pursue the reimbursement process," he said.

Wolf said FEMA previously sent a representative to the municipalities to gather the information.

"Now, the burden has shifted to municipalities -- if you have documentation ready, they'll take it and leave. They might have had two weeks of training or one month, " Wolf said. Damaged roads include North Wimpy Jones, Ranchief, Tall Oaks, Ford Road, Dennis Mitchell Road, Wild Honey, Old Liberty, Schooley, Hughes and Pine Brook West.
