Library has many activities for summer

Hello Pea Ridge, friends!

I hope you have been enjoying our sweet volunteer's articles. We have some amazing children in our community. I can't wait to see what they do in the future as they grow up.

We have had a lot going on at the library this summer. Our regular events such as Story Hour on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and monthly book clubs have been going well. High School Book Club will be held at 11 a.m. July 24.

During Story Hour on Wednesday, July 19, we will be reading about outer space and making our very own rocket ships. If you enjoy games and want to meet more people in our community, stop by the library for Table Toppers at 4 p.m. July 24. We will have a clay sculpture class for children ages 4- to 12-years of age at 3 p.m. July 25.

We have kicked off our 1,000 books before kindergarten program. It is for new born sweet babies to right before kindergarten. It is a fun and exciting, free way to start your child on a path to success. You track the books you read to your child even if it's the same book a bunch of times. Then, for every 100 books you move your child's name up our milestone wall until you reach 1,000.

Thanks to Arvest Bank for recommending our library for a grant from the Walton Foundation, we are now live with Overdrive. Overdrive is an app that is essentially an online library. With this app you can check out available books, videos, periodicals and audio-books. It allows you to have access to the Pea Ridge Community Library's digital collection where you are free to download from thousands of titles at any time and from any place as long as you have an internet connection. No matter what device you use we have a pamphlet with easy directions to help you on your way. Call, email or come by the library to find out more information.
