Valentines Day baskets to be sold

Greetings Library admirers.

Our Friends of the Community Library recently had a meeting on Jan. 12 to discuss what the group wanted the funds raised by them to go toward at the library. It was decided funds should go towards the implement and improvement of children and adult programs, audio books, DVDs, new toys for the children's area and enrichment classes such as robotics, coding, music, art, pottery and a writing workshop.

Library hours

Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The Friends will plan four events a year, with one each quarter. The first event will be a gift basket fundraiser for Valentine's Day. Basket shopping will be open to the public Feb. 7-14 with a special pre-sale Feb. 6 for members of the Friends of the Library. Be the first to pick out a basket for your sweetheart by becoming a member today!

There are three ways to support this fundraiser. First, donate a filled gift basket, big or small, that will be sold at the event. Second, donate funds to be used towards the purchase of items to put together a gift basket. Lastly, donate items to put in a gift basket. This would be an excellent opportunity for any local businesses to promote themselves by adding their business cards and products to a basket.

Any businesses or residents that contribute will be added to a list of sponsors that will be posted during the sale. Donations should be delivered to the library no later than Feb. 3 so there is time to assemble baskets. Contact Megan Bryant (509) 999-9860 or Carrie Staten (479) 531-4420 for donations to be picked up.

The first Financial Peace University class was held Jan. 24 with 23 adults and a few teens registered to join us.

The Library's Board Meeting was rescheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 26. Come join anytime.

The Library is holding an open Lego play and challenge on Feb. 6 for ages 5 and up.

The next Chess/Checkers Club is 3:45 p.m. Feb. 2. All ages are welcome, especially anyone with the willingness and expertise to teach a few interested students how to play.

Don't forget, the library's community room for rent. It is $50 a day with a $100 deposit. There is no charge for a civic group to meet during library hours.
