Additional vendors needed for local Farmers Market

One-stop shopping experience features local produce, goods

Pea Ridge Farmers Market organizer Carol Roper hopes Mother Nature cooperates more this year.

Plans are gearing up for the Farmers Market, which will officially open on May 7. However, if produce is available, vendors may offer their items earlier than that date. Additional vendors are needed to make the market successful, Roper said. The market specifically needs more produce vendors.

This year's Farmers Market will take place at the same location, 197 Slack St., Pea Ridge. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday.

Last year, the market offered a variety of goods, ranging from produce, VanZant peaches, chicken, beef and pork, meats, eggs, strawberries and blackberries, jams and jellies, honey, soaps, homemade detergent, bandannas, wood products, jewelry, bakery items and more.

The weather -- rain and hot temperatures -- played a little havoc on the market throughout the season. Roper hopes Mother Nature will be more favorable this year and that this unique shopping experience for locals will prove to be a great season.

The Farmers Market offers a one-stop shopping experience where local artisans and farmers offer high quality, regional food as well as handcrafted and one-of-a-kind items.

Local people are interested in supporting the market. One reviewer posted, "We are so proud of our local market, its vendors, and especially the very positive support of our local clientele! This market is really growing ... even in a difficult farming season!"

Roper hopes to draw interest from the Rogers Garden Club and sign up additional vendors. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor, may call 479-381-2897.
