Lions Club

The Pea Ridge Lions Club met Aug. 24 at the Heritage Building with club president, Brenda Henson, introducing Pea Ridge schoo superintendent Rick Neal as the guest speaker.

Mr. Neal gave an informative and enlightening presentation on the district program, Bright Futures. Following a question and answer session, the club members unanimously voted to support the program with a $500 donation.

In other business, it was noted that the Lions have donated and mounted two benches with plaques at the Veteran's Memorial with a third bench to be placed on the grounds near the Memorial. Updates on the projected fundraisers and a proposed budget for the new fiscal year were given.

The Lions Club motto is: "We Serve."

The Lions Club is a non-profit organization and the primary focus has been free vision screenings for children and adults, eye care and hearing assistance. The club also supports the Leader Dog organization, World Services for the Blind, the Angel project, and other community projects.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7,at the School Heritage Building on North Curtis Avenue at Pike Street. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. on every second and fourth Thursday. Anyone interested is encouraged and welcome to attend.
