Junior 'Hawks take control of conference

The Pea Ridge Blackhawk junior boys football team is in the drivers seat of the 4A-1 district with their 22-6 domination of the Prairie Grove Tigers last Friday.

Speedy Tate Busey initiated the Blackhawk scoring with an 8-yard run early in the game. The score was set up by a pair of great catch and run plays by Tristan Hall. Later in the first half, the 'Hawks were facing a fourth down on the TIger 10 when Busey lofted a pass to James Fort. A Tiger was in position to possibly take down an interception but Fort fought him for the ball, ending up with the pigskin into the end zone. The 'Hawks scored on a 2-point conversion pass from Busey to Hall down the middle.

Pea Ridge closed out their scoring in the second half with a 14-yard scoring dash by Luis Reyes, who also ran in the two point conversion.

"Tristan Hall had his breakout night," head coach Cody Alexander remarked. "He made two huge catches on our first drive. He is a kid who is really growing up and getting better. He's gaining confidence and it showed Thursday."

"Our defensive line dominated the game led by Bailee Randolph, Mazon Harris, Baker Fairchild, Phillip Brown and Miguel Ortiz. Their excellent play allowed room for Adam Trammel and David Wood to be unblocked and they made a lot of tackles to lead the team," Alexander continued.

"Jake Adams had his best game defensively, doing everything we asked him to do, which were some different things to do this week. He really came up and tackled well," the head coach concluded.

The boys have a long road trip ahead of them Thursday as they will invade Bobcat Field in Berryville for another conference battle.
