Veterans Memorial dedicated

John Ruddick, U.S. Navy, Vietnam War, was accompanied by his granddaughter, Katelyn Cottrell, 9, of Siloam Springs for the Veterans Parade and dedication of the Veterans Memorial in Pea Ridge Saturday. Katelyn is the daughter of Josh and Kathryn Cottrell of Siloam Springs.

Descendants of Russell Walker, U.S. Army, World War II, gathered for the Veterans Parade and dedication of the Veterans Memorial in Pea Ridge Saturday. Walker's granddaughter Kathryn Cottrell and her husband Josh of Siloam Springs with their children, Landon, 16, Hannah, 13, Tyler, 11, and Katelyn, 9, joined their maternal grandmother, Sue Walker Ruddick and grandfather, John Ruddick, U.S. Navy, Vietnam War, along with other family members Sue and Dan Jones. Walker died at 97 years of age in August 2014.

Landon and Tyler Cottrell of Siloam Springs participated in the Pea Ridge Veterans Day parade in honor of their maternal grandfather, John Ruddick, U.S. Navy, Vietnam War, and their great-grandfather, Russell Walker, U.S. Army, World War II. The "Eisenhower jacket" that Landon has on was worn by his great grandfather.

Landon Cottrell celebrated his 16th birthday Saturday, Nov. 12, wearing his great-grandfather's "Eisenhower jacket" in the Veterans Parade and at the dedication of the new Veterans Memorial in Pea Ridge. Cottrell honored his maternal grandfather, John Ruddick-US Navy, Vietnam War, and great-grandfather, Russell Walker-US Army, World War II. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8109 dedicated the new memorial Saturday. On the memorial stones are Ruddick's and Walker's names, as well as three of Walker's brothers and Matt Greene's (a cousin). Walker passed away this past year.
