Jorge sees a light outside his window in the trees. Just then, Genaro walks into the room and says, "Jorge, I am going shopping."
Jorge says, "OK, take the car, and buy some food.¨
My name is Genaro Reyes. I am 12 years old, and I am in the sixth grade. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because I can eat a lot of food. My favorite things to do are play video games, watch TV, and play the Lego Game because they are my favorite things to do. I also like math, reading, and writing because I like to do them. Being an author in this anthology makes me happy.
Genaro drives to the store and buys some groceries. On his way home, he sees a lion at the edge of the forest. He couldn't wait to tell Jorge, so he goes home and tells him that he saw a lion in the forest.
¨Wow!¨ Jorge exclaims. ¨I saw a light in the trees. We should investigate.¨
So, the friends go to the forest to look around. They see the light and follow it. They enter a clearing where the light shines from a bowl sitting on top of a tree stump. Standing next to the bowl of light is the lion. The lion's eyes stare at Genaro and Jorge, and they freeze in their tracks. Genaro runs away to distract the lion, so that Jorge can look in the bowl. The lion follows Genaro, and Jorge grabs the bowl of light and runs home. Genaro makes a circle and meets Jorge at the house.
Genaro says, ¨Jorge, give the bowl to me.¨
Jorge replies, ¨No way! It´s mine. I am the one who got it.¨
Genaro punches Jorge in the arm and tries to take the bowl. Jorge keeps both hands on the bowl and kicks Genaro in the leg.
Genaro says, ¨I am sorry for hitting you. Let's not fight anymore.¨ Jorge accepts the apology. They decide to take turns holding the bowl.
After having a discussion, the friends decide to take the bowl to the Magic Store. When they get there, they show the bowl to a very unusual looking lady working in the store.
Genaro asks, ¨What can this light do? How is it working in this bowl?¨
She says, ¨This light is powerful magic that can give the holder supernatural powers.¨
Genaro and Jorge leave the store and go home. They talk about what they learned and think about what powers they want. Genaro chooses to be invisible lava and ice, and Jorge chooses to be invisible air and rock. The lion returns to his cave and goes into a deep sleep, and the friends live happily using their new powers.
