Illinois River Conservation
Dr. Delia Haak, executive director of the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, will present a program on conservation in the Illinois River Watershed at noon Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.
Seed Swap
A free seed swap will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. Attendees are encouraged to bring seeds to swap, but free seeds will be available for all who attend. There will also be gardening-related demonstrations, handouts and door prizes. The seed swap is sponsored by the Springdale Community Garden and Manna Project, in conjunction with Mill Street Market.
Ozark Baskets
Lum Gibson's Legacy, an exhibit on the Gibson family, makers of Ozark split-oak baskets, will open at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History on Monday, Feb. 1. Christopher Columbus "Lum" Gibson who settled near the Spring Valley area in northeast Washington County, originated a basket design in the 1880s that has been passed down in the Gibson family for generations," said museum director Allyn Lord. "The design is distinctive for its twill-patterned rectangular base, thick handle, and absence of nails," Lord continued. The exhibit will feature baskets from the University Museum collection as well as the Shiloh Museum collection, and will be on display through May 21.
Lum Gibson's Legacy is co-sponsored by KUAF 91.3 National Public Radio.
Storytellers
The Tellers of Tales storytelling group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. All tellers and listeners are invited.
LifeWriters
