Christmas train ride slated

SELIGMAN, Mo. -- There will be four Christmas train rides hosted by the Seligman Chamber of Commerce with the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad to take passengers on Dec. 17 and 18.

The Santa train ride is hosted jointly by the Seligman Chamber of Commerce and Arkansas & Missouri Railroad. All proceeds will go to the Kids Foster/Adoptive Parents Association of Barry, Lawrence and Stone counties in Missouri.

The train ride Saturday, Dec. 17, will leave from Seligman City Hall, 29144 Main St., Seligman, Mo., and travel to Rogers, Ark. There are two departures -- at 9 a.m. and at 11 a.m. Riders on the 9 a.m. train may elect to stay in Rogers and return on the 11 o'clock train for an additional $10 charge.

The Sunday, Dec. 18, rides leave Monett soccer fields (South Park) at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and travel from Monett to Exeter, Mo.

Santa will be on the train to give out bag of treats to kids 12 and under, according Cleta Stanley, with the Seligman Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children4-12 and free for children 3 and younger. For the 9 a.m. ride from Seligman to Rogers if riders elect to stay in Rogers for an additional two hours, tickets are $30 for adults.
