REAP student expelled

A Pea Ridge Academy student who is currently a student at REAP, a consortium of Bentonville, Rogers and Pea Ridge school districts, was expelled for violating school policy and failing drug tests.

"This is always the thing we hate the most," Chip Greenwell, assistant principal at Pea Ridge High School, said when informing the School Board of the student's impending expulsion.

The student was sent from ALE to REAP at the beginning of last year, but tested positive for drugs in November and again in March. The only option is to expel him for a calendar year, which may begin the process of sending him to C-Step, a juvenile boot camp that is part of the criminal correctional system, according to Greenwell.
