Fruit Cocktail Cake

From the kitchen of Donna Fuller, Anderson, Mo.

Cake:

2 c. flour

1/2 c. sugar

1 stick butter, softened

2 tsp. soda

2 cans (4 c.) cans fruit cocktail, with syrup

2 eggs

1/2 c. packed brown sugar

1 c. nuts

coconut if desired

Topping:

3/4 c. sugar

1/2 c. milk

1 stick butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine cake ingredients, pour into greased and floured 9- by 13-inch cake pan. Bake for about 30 minutes.

Combine ingredients for topping and boil for 5 minutes. Pour over warm cake.
