Pea Ridge Graphic-Scene

May 11 will be the starting of a new ministry of the First Baptist Church of Pea Ridge. The Drive-In Church will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. every Sunday, weather permitting, on the parking lot north of the church building. This ministry will be conducted as a regular church service with gospel music and preaching.

Pea Ridge Head Start has a newly-developed playground that carries out an Early American motif and contains in addition to a swing set donated by Mayor Carter, a log cabin, a fort with ramp and a sandbox all built of slab wood, a covered shelter for a quiet corner and a tee pee. Materials and labor were donated.

As a result of committee action Monday night, the voters in the area being serviced by the Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County may get a chance to vote on the formation of the emergency medical service district being proposed and the proposed $15 per year service fee to be added to the personal tax bill, provided the Quorum Court passes the ordinance to be presented to it on Thursday night.

Belltower memorial groundbreaking Monday on Pea Ridge Schools campus brought a community dream closer. The Pea Ridge College bell, stored for many years in the attic of the Pea Ridge High School, will be housed in the structure, whose walls will incorporate brick from the collapsed "Old Gym." Some of the old brick are said to have been part of the old Pea Ridge College building.

Beta Alpha Chapter of Pea Ridge was named Arkansas's Outstanding Chapter of the Year during the 45th state convention of the Arkansas State Council of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sororities at the Bentonville Ramada Inn April 28-30.

Organizers of the 47th annual Pea Ridge Community Fair, set for July 12-15 on the Pea Ridge High School campus, said that it shaping up to be an exciting and fun-filled event. General co-chairmen Virgie Hazelton and Ginny Kraus said that Beta Alpha Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sororities will once again sponsor and solely present the fair, as it has done for about 30 years, as the sorority's main fundraiser for its many civic and philanthropic endeavors.

Six Pea Ridge eighth-graders took a hands-on approach to their job shadowing experience at Pea Ridge Veterinary Clinic Friday. Brenda Hernandez, Breanna Brewer, Chase Henry, Katie Jackson, Amber Denton and David Barfield chose veterinary medicine for an occupation in Mrs. Snell's career orientation class and spent Friday shadowing Dr. Gary France and his staff.

On April 28, the Pea Ridge FFA held its annual banquet to welcome in the new 2005-2006 officers, Lindsey Christensen, junior advisor; Cassandra Taylor, reporter; Drew Williamson, secretary; Nick Neukam, vice president; Adam Ash, president; Brandon Roughton, vice president; Colter Webb, vice president; Jeremy Spotts, sentinel; Chessica Rizley, reporter; and Kevin Tolly, treasure. Advisor is Perry Mason.
