Library is open Saturdays

A new year has begun with lots of opportunities and possibilities. Here is hoping we all make the most of them. Saturday, Jan. 3, was the first day to have Saturday hours at the library. Only six people visited, but in light of the weather that was understandable. The Saturday hours of 10 a.m. -- 2 p.m. will continue until the end of March.

When I opened the January issue of Arkansas Living (an official publication of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc.) I was excited to read that Tim Ernst, renowned Arkansas wilderness photographer, has a new book -- "Arkansas Nightscapes." Seven of the photographs from the book are pictured in the magazine. My copy of the magazine will be at the library for anyone who wants to peruse it there. I would love to have other copies if anyone has one to donate. I hope to be able to order a copy of the book for the library soon.

The following books are all on the New York Times Best Seller List and are in the library: "Gray Mountain," by John Grisham; "Hope to Die," by James Patterson; "Revival" by Stephen King; "The Escape," by David Baldacci; "Tom Clancy: Full Force and Effect," by Mark Greaney; and "Flesh and Blood," by Patricia Cornwell. Some, if not all of these may be on loan but we will happily add your name to the waiting list. Call the library if you would like us to place your name on the reserve list for "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand. The book and the movie have received much acclaim.

I would like to thank everyone who donated books, money, etc. to the library this past year. Your donations not only help us stretch our budget dollars but also provide us with books we might not otherwise have access to. We are very grateful for all the support we receive.

I want to personally thank the Library Board of Trustees for their support and tireless effort to the library. You make my job so much easier and you help make the library the success it is.

See you at the library!
