Learn the truth about mental health

Hope can be a strong anchor towards living healthy and happy lives. When anyone is diagnosed with an illness, hope provides the light at the end of the tunnel. With mental illness having hope is possible and important in recovery.

Myth No. 6: Once someone is diagnosed with a mental illness there is no hope, no way to recover.

Truth No. 6: There are several ways to address and cope with symptoms however, several individuals are able to recover. They are able to work, enjoy time with family and friends, and be fully productive employees. Recovery is based on an individual's ability to function and lead a productive life.

Myth No. 7: There's no reason for therapy or self-help information. Taking a pill can fix it better than any therapy.

Truth No. 7: Depending on the mental health diagnosis, treatment can be therapy, medication, or both. Having a support system of friends and family can be an important component as well. The combination of treatments increases the chances of recovery.

Myth No. 8: There isn't anything I can do to help someone who is diagnosed with a mental health disorder.

Truth No. 8: Treating individuals with respect, care, and support is a significant help. Helping individuals get access to services, listening to them, letting them know you care, and getting educated about mental illness are just a few ways everyone can help.

Individuals who are diagnosed with a mental health disorder should maintain hope that things can be better. With support of loved ones, treatment can be much more successful. There is always hope for those who seek treatment and continue to feel understood and cared for.
