Meeting Wednesday, the Board of Directors of the Bank of Pea Ridge elected L.E. Hardy of Pea Ridge to executive vice president of the bank. In that position, Hardy assumed the role of managing officer of the bank.

Benton County Judge Railey Steele and Mayor Harry Smith of Rogers were elected to the executive committee of the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District at its eighth annual meeting Thursday, March 20, in Harrison. Mayor Smith, Rogers, councilman John Shores and school superintendent Marvin Higginbottom, both of Bentonville, were elected to the district board of directors.

Bill and Dub Snow, proprietors of Bill 'n Dub's Furniture Ranch, Pea Ridge, have announced the purchase of the old canning factory property at the intersection of Curtis, Stone and Patton streets. Snow said that they are planning to build a new building in front of the existing building for a show room and to renovate the existing old building for use as a warehouse.

County Judge Al Norwood received Monday petitions signed by 477 residents of the area being served by the Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County opposing the formulation of an emergency medical services district. The petitions ask the Quorum Court "not to establish a mandatory tax for the purpose of supporting a volunteer ambulance service within the area designated."

A lot of those served by the Pea Ridge Post Office will soon be getting only junk mail and none of the mail they want. The reason is that they haven't notified those who send first and second class mail of their 911 street address. Residents of the City of Pea Ridge have known of their 911 street addresses for three years. Those on the Pea Ridge routes outside the city have know of theirs for two years. The Post Office is not supposed to forward first and second class mail beyond one year. Postmaster Debbie Anderson said that time has run out.

Members of the Benton County Teen Court say that the decisions of teenage juries get the attention of violators. The court was formed last fall and allows participants to serve as jurors, attorneys and clerks. The defendants are teenagers who are first-time offenders and have pleaded guilty. Pea Ridge High School volunteers participating in the program are seniors Brian Easley and Kristen Wycoff, junior Breanna Clanton, sophomores Chad Gabrielson and Jennifer Hook, and freshman Stacey Cardin.

On Tuesday, March 29, at the organizational meeting, the Pea Ridge Optimist Club officially became a member of Optimist International with a total of 45 members.

A residence on Jones Trailer Park Road was completely destroyed by fire Monday morning. The Pea Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Little Flock and Avoca departments, responded.

The Pea Ridge School Board will recognize new high school principal Rick Neal and his family at its meeting Monday, April 11, in the high school family and consumer science classroom.
