Train tickets on sale
SELIGMAN, Mo. -- All Aboard -- there is still time to make reservations on the Seligman train ride to Van Buren, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 11, or Sunday, Oct. 12, see the beautiful Boston Mountains. It will be Arts and Crafts days in Van Buren. there will be music in the street. Tickets are $80, adult first class and $72 for seniors 65 or older; vintage cars $60 adults, $54 for seniors, $35 for children 4-12 and free for children under 4. This is an all-day trip. Register for Rib Cook-off
GARFIELD -- The 21st annual NEBCO Fire/EMS Turkey Shoot and Rib Cook Off is Saturday, Oct. 4.
The fundraiser will be at NEBCO Fire Station No. 1 and Community Center, U.S. Hwy. 62 and S. Wimpy Jones Road in Garfield. Activities are anchored by the ever popular Rib Cook-Off and Turkey Shoot events; and brand new this year, there are Rib Cook-Off cash prizes of $500, $300 & $200 for first, second and third place winners respectively.
There is also a day-long raffle with great prizes including a 58-inch flat screen TV, a kayak, tools, toys, hunting gear, restaurant gift certificates and kitchen items. Raffle tickets are $1 each, six for $5, 12 for $10, 24 for $20, 60 for $50 and 120 for $100.
There is a silent auction, bingo, a "buy-it-now" bargain area, and for the kids, the Daisy BB-Gun range.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Baby Back pork ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink; just $9 for adults, $5 for children 10 & under.
