Library has a community room

Congratulations to all the PRHS graduates! My hope is that each will achieve their goals and see their dreams come true.

The library was pleased to host Jeff Thacker from Congressman Steve Womack's office in the library Thursday, May 15. Marisol Soto, her mother and a group of friends stopped by to talk with Mr. Thacker. I am thankful that the library can provide a room for meetings for our community.

Wednesday was our first Story Hour this year. We had a good turn-out considering that school is still in session. The children heard a story read by Ms. Beth Ash and did a craft that involved putting paint on their hands to make flowers on a sheet of paper. It turned out well! I expect we will see a big increase once school is out. Story Hour is at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday. First time attendees should arrive a little early to fill out a registration form.

It appears that we will be experiencing nice weather; so we will be placing some boxes of free books and magazines in front of the library. We could use plastic grocery bags for use with our free materials. You may drop them by when we are open or put them in the drop box outside the front door.

I have heard many nice comments regarding the landscaping recently completed by the Lions Club. The plants are growing beautifully and add much to the front of the building. I also appreciate the bouquet of fresh flowers that a patron provided.

"The Target" by David Baldacci, "The Collector" by Nora Roberts and "Natchez Burning" by Greg Iles arrived and were snapped up almost immediately. We will be happy to put you on the reserve list.

Books and DVDs are checked out for two weeks at a time and can be renewed for another two weeks -- except for new releases. Only one new release may checked out at a time and cannot be renewed. Late fees are 20 cents per day per book and late fees on DVDs are $1 a day. Failure to return library materials and/or failure to pay fines or the cost of replacing those items will result in the patron's library privileges being suspended and possible legal action. We are a small library doing our best to provide our patrons with current materials within a modest budget. We appreciate the large percentage of our patrons who abide by the rules!

See you at the library!
