Country cobbler
Recipe by Janice Bray, in the 2008 Cook's Library of Treasures published by the Pea Ridge Community Library
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
2 c. berries
1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
Combine butter, 1 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk; blend well. Pour batter into a lightly greased deep 1 1/2- quart casserole dish; set aside. Combine berries with remaining 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar. Sugar amount depends on sweetness desired. Pour berries over batter. Bake at 375° for 30 to 40 minutes.
