Car show is Saturday

Show moved to City Park

The eighth annual Freedom Fest car show will be held Saturday, June 28, at Pea Ridge City Park.

Previously held on Sunday on the grounds of First Assembly of God Church along with Freedom Fest, the event has grown too large for that space.

The show, featuring classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone wanting to enter a vehicle may show up at 9 a.m., according to organizers Alan and Carol Ash, who said there are eight classes and the top three vehicles in each class will be awarded a prize.

"We will have a best of show -- people's choice -- award that will get $50," Carol Ash said.

There is a $10 charge to enter a vehicle or $15 for the same person showing two vehicles, Ash said, adding that charge was necessary to provide prizes. There is no charge for attending.

"Car owners come from as far away as five states to show their cars," Larry Whisenhunt, member of the Pea Ridge Parks Commission, said.

"This is an event that will use all the grass area that is normally used to play sports," Whisenhunt said. "This area is not usually reserved but in this case it is ... the grass area will not be available for any other use that day."
