Librarian welcomes new grandson

Arrived back home from St. Louis late Thursday afternoon -- exhausted and ill but so very grateful I had gotten to be there for the birth of my grandson. Jayden Daniel Maddox arrived on May 23 weighing in at 8 lbs, 15 ounces! Everyone is doing well. Big brother is adjusting.

Unfortunately, I became ill enough to have to see a physician's assistant at a Walgreen's clinic. I had picked up a virus and was told not to have any more contact with the baby and my other grandchildren -- no touching, no kissing, no hugging -- anyone! My 6-year-old grandson looked at me and said: "Grandma, I am so sorry I can't give you hugs and kisses." It broke my heart.

So, I cut my visit short and drove home Thursday. The next time I complain about the traffic in Rogers or on Interstate 49, just remind me of my drive on Interstate 44! Our traffic is a cakewalk in comparison.

I have not been to the library except to pick up my keys. Everything looks great. Thanks to Lee and Cinda for taking care of things in my absence. I did hear that the police were called for a minor incident. A library should provide a safe environment for everyone and we will take the necessary steps to make sure it is.

Please remember that school is out so watch out for children as you are driving. Help keep them safe this summer!

See you at the library!
