Wanting to provide complete vehicle service for residents of Pea Ridge, Stanley Sunderman and Jeff Arnold joined forces with Scott Spivey and Larry Rogers to open Blackhawk Auto and Tire at 123 Ellis Lane.

"We've completely redone it," Arnold said, pointing out painted walls and floors.

"We're here for the customers," Sunderman said. "We're open to suggestions on what they want."

"Me and Stan opened it for an investment," Arnold said. "The community had no where to go to get an oil change or a flat fixed at a reasonable rate... we offer friendly service.

"I've been here all my life and I know most about everyone," he said.

Offering oil changes, working on air conditions, transmission work, brakes, tires, wheels, the owners and employees of Blackhawk Auto said they want to provide honest, reliable service to their neighbors in the area.

Scott Spivey is the manager of the mechanical side and Larry Rogers is the manager of the tire and wheel side.

Spivey, a Pea Ridge High School graduate, worked at Henson's Automotive with Billy Henson beginning in 2002. He is ASE certified and graduated from NTI Vo-Technical school. He said he has 11 years of experience and used to work at Fast Auto in Bentonville.

Spivey said he offers preventative maintenance and will check the vehicle thoroughly when scheduled for an oil change. He said he will show customers what areas need attention. The shop has a Mitchell 1 system, a software program used by many mechanic shops, Arnold said.

Rogers, who said he has 16 years of experience on tires and wheels, said he has worked at many tire shops including Rogers Tire in Summit, Ark., R&W tires in Flippin, Rogers Tires in Marshall, R&W Tires in Bull Shoals and was a trainer at Tire World in Harrison. In northwest Arkansas, Rogers said he moved here for a job, but likes working with tires. "I'd rather be here than anywhere."

He said there will be an air hose available on the outside of the building for customer service.

"Repeat customers in our home town are important," Arnold said, explaining that he wanted to provide honest service to continue to serve the public. "Our town is definitely big enough to support this now."

"Good service will bring people back," Sunderman said.

There is free water as well as a vending machine for soft drinks and snacks in the lobby.

The business telephone number is 451-1210; the web site is www.BlackhawkAutoandTire.com; and there is a Facebook page. Rogers said he can be contacted through e-mail at [email protected] for tires.
