Granny's Quilts of Love

Granny's Quilts of Love met 9:30 a.m. Jan. 21, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. Eighteen members were present. Mary Margaret Webb conducted the meeting and Nancy Davis offered the prayer.

The ladies cut 200 quilt kits. Our total quilts made is 17,124, 4,263 pillows and 1,700 hats. We had a luncheon celebration for making over 17,000 quilts.

Mary Margaret read a letter from Kathy Lewellin, social worker at ACH, passing on thanks from the parents of a little girl who received a quilt from us and how much it meant to her. Unfortunately, the little girl passed away three days later and since the quilt meant so much to her that they planned to bury it with her.

The club is recruiting women to come join to sew the quilts for the children at Arkansas Children's Hospital. The Granny's furnish all the materials to make the quilts. Granny's help give a little joy and comfort in a crucial time of these children's lives.

Grann's Quilts of Love always meets at 9:30 a.m. the third Tuesday of the month at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge, 1300 N. Davis St. Call Mary Margaret Webb at 451-8640 for information.

The quilts are made of one piece of material size 45" x 56" of a cartoon character or Disney print. Once a child has received a quilt, it is his or hers to keep as a reminder of how much he or she is loved.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 18, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.
