Christmas decor

I am officially on turkey overload but I love it. It is time to pull out all the left-over turkey recipes including one of my favorites, Turkey Tetrazzini. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Our plans went from 15 for dinner to just the two of us. We realized that we were just not up to hosting everyone this year. Sure missed seeing the kids and grandkids but will work on being healthier for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, the annual library Open House will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9. We are so excited to be hosting a book signing that night by Bentonville young adult author Karen Akins. Copies of her book, "Loop," will be available for purchase at the library that evening. We are honored to welcome Ms. Akins to our library.

The Street Department employees hung the outdoor lights on the building last week. Thank you, guys, for doing a great job. Christmas decorations will be going up inside the library this week. The members of the Library Board did such an outstanding job last year and I know it will be equally beautiful this year. Thank you, board members, for all you do for the library and the community.

There will be several new books on the shelves this week. There should be a couple of new releases from James Patterson, maybe the new Grisham, a Steven King and a Christmas-themed book by Richard Paul Evans and several other books whose titles escape me. I write these columns at home on the weekend and don't always remember all the titles on order.

We still have plenty of 2014 Mule Jump T-Shirts (short and long-sleeved) and hats and the prices have been reduced. Would make great Christmas gifts -- a souvenir of the only Mule Jump event that had to be canceled due to weather!

We have found what we believe to be the last box of the Pea Ridge Community Library Cookbooks that we published a few years ago. At $5 each, these are a great bargain and a wonderful opportunity to get recipes from some great area cooks.

Mark your calendar for the Open House!

See you at the library!
