Bill n' Dubs softball team won four out of their seven games played. The team's coaches were Mark Lasater and Randy Prophet. The players included Kelly Webb, Peggy McKinney, Diane Collins, Gwen Hickman, Callye Hunt, Colleen Phillips, Pam McCool, Sue Turek, Kim Webb, Brenda Lasater and Peggy Napier.
Pea Ridge National Military Park superintendent Lionel Bienvenu was named superintendent of Chalmette National Historic Park, La., which commemorates the Battle of New Orleans.
James Mayfield was unanimously appointed mayor of Pea Ridge by the Pea Ridge City Council. Mayfield was appointed to replace Jack Musteen, who resigned.

Gov. Bill Clinton, Democratic candidate for re-election, asked Benton County Democrats gathered at Little Flock to "renew my contract" in November as he sought his third term, this time against Republican Woody Freeman. This was the third annual Democratic picnic in Little Flock.
The Pea Ridge City Council voted to appoint Bob Harp to a five-year term on the Park Commission effective Aug. 31, when chairman Kathy Knox's term expired.
Ron Crabb, Garfield, announced that he intended to be a write-in candidate for county surveyor in the November election opposing incumbent Republican candidate Ronald L. Ridout.
After considerable discussion, the city of Little Flock hired Tom Noblitt as City Marshal.

Dr. Gary France, owner of Pea Ridge Veterinary Clinic, said that he was in the process of expanding his clinic to include a 4,000-square-foot horse barn. France said that the expansion project, including equipment involved an investment of approximately $100,000.
Darlene Urbanek and her husband, of Twelve Corners, grew a cantaloupe that weighed just under 21 pounds and another just over 21 pounds.
For $20 a year, hunters could use suitable locations on the leased lands of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Users could hunt deer, squirrel, turkey, quail, rabbit and other game. There were also fishing opportunities.

Ron Lee of Rogers and Becky Warner of Garfield were crowned TOPS king and queen for the state of Arkansas. Warner went on to be a runner-up at the international level.
Bill Steele was announced as the new pastor of Pea Ridge and Centerton Methodist churches. His father and two brothers were also Methodist ministers.
The winners for the top readers for the Pea Ridge Community Library Summer Reading Program were Jamie Jarding, Abby Rowe, Casey Jarding and Kristen Landis. They read a combination of 168 books.
