Harriers compete in Elkins

Pea Ridge’s high school cross country teams took two fourthplace finishes in the Elkins Invitational Saturday with the junior teams coming up with third and fourth place finishes in the annual competition.

Missing three of their top runners, the pre-meet favorite Lady ’Hawk runners wound up in fourth place with 82 points behind Ozark with 33, Huntsville with 59 and Berryville with 64. Shiloh fi nished with 87 while Gentry and Prairie Grove failed to score. Pea Ridge has finished second in the girls state 4A meet for the last two years.

Kerstin Hobbs led the squad with a ninth place overall fi nish in the 5K event with a 24:42 clocking Emma Pitts followed in 17th place with a 25:51 effort with Michaela Tucszinski finishing 22nd (27:02);

Shelby Morgan, 25th (27:36) and Rebecca Woods, 26th (27:37).

The boys team matched the girls team finish, scoring 73 to fi nish behind Berryville with 57, Shiloh with 61 and Huntsville with 62. Gentry took 5th with 90 followed by Ozark with 140 while Prairie Grove failed to score.

Nick Hardy finished sixth overall in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:12. Gage Kelso was 11th in 20:24 followed by Blake Shappard, 14th (20:43), Zach Davis 21st (2:36),Hunter Sill 24th (22:16) and Jarrin Parysik, 26th (22:24)

Junior girl runner Krystle Parmenter was again the top fi nishing runner for Pea Ridge as she finished in fourth place to lead her team to a third place overall score with 58. Shiloh won with 22 with Berryville taking second with 52.

Huntsville failed to score.

Parmenter finished the 3,200 meter course in 13:50. Alley Wilson was also a top 10 fi nisher, taking ninth in 14:13. Next was Avery Dayberry in 14th place (14:51) with Melissa Landis in 15th (15:06) and Kiley West in 16th (15:16).

The junior boys were led by Logan Johnson who was ninth overall with a 12:11 timing. Hayden Holtgrewe finished 11th in 12:23, followed by Kobe Rose 12th (1227), Garrett King 22nd (13:09), Vernon Leach 27th (14:00), Tray McDonald 31st (14:36) and Ryan Sheppard 32nd (14:36). Shiloh won the meet with 37, followed by Berryville with 51, Prairie Grove 52 and Pea Ridge 74. Huntsville failed to score.
