Library to expand hours

The Library Board of Trustees and I met with the Pea Ridge City Council members last week to discuss our budget for 2014.

Our patrons have asked for additional hours and that will happen very soon. The new hours will be 1-8 p.m.

Mondays and Tuesdays;

and 10 a.m. to noon and 1-6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. We hope our expanded hours will give more of you an opportunity to take advantage of the library.

Our computers are in use a good deal of the time. If you need to use the computer at a certain time, you may want to call and reserve a time.

When the building was renovated, the Mercy employee break room was left just as it was and it became a storage room with boxes and boxes of old records, supplies, etc.. It also has a small under the counter refrigerator, a microwave and a co◊ee maker - all donated. Two volunteers are working hard to make order out of the chaos.

Thanks, Cinda and Lee, for your hard work.

This past week the city maintenance guys adjusted the light on the pole in front of the library so that it directs more light on the parking area. The patrons and I appreciate it.

At the risk of repeating myself, I want to remind anyone who has an overdue book or owes fi nes, please return the books and make arrangements to pay your fines. Books and DVDs are checked out for two-weeks at a time. Late fees are 20 cents per day per book and $1 per day per DVD.

Borrowed items may be returned in the drop box outside the front door of the library. These items may be renewed by calling the library during our regular hours. New releases can not be renewed. Patronswho owe fines or need to pay for a lost or damaged book will not be allowed to check-out books/DVDs or use the computer.

Some books have been moved i.e. large print, teen, classics. So, if you can’t fi nd something, just ask and we will be happy to direct you to proper area.

November is Native American Heritage Month and we have several books on display. If any of you have any Native American items you would be willing to lend for the display, we would be very grateful.

See you at the library!
