LETTER TO THE EDITOR: The planting of a garden

This is one of the overall themes or mysteries of Scripture. The Scriptures were written with the theme of the planting of the field or garden. All of these words that are listed below are words that everyone in the world would have understood 100 years ago because everyone planted and harvested their own food. This would apply to everyone. This is why the Creator used these words and this narrative as a background for his Scriptures.

The following is a short list of some of the words that are used in Scripture.

Can you think of any more that I did not put on the list? The () is the number of times these words arefound in the Scriptures.

Earth (906); water (363); till (3); seed (254); plant (41); sow (37); soil (1); garden (47); wheat (51); barley (35); bread (330); tares (8); trees (136); grass (56); vineyard (59); grapes (33); winepress (14); threshing (10); field (266); fruit (184); herb (37); pulse (3); graffed (4); dirt (3); clay (30); pot (20); vessel (41); root (43); branch (34); harvest (51); fallow ground (2); gather (158); pluck up (29); reap (31); sickle (11); mustard seed (5); ground (188); and grow (37). Narrow is the gate leading us back into the garden, to the tree of life.
