Santa Claus came to Pea Ridge and was greeted by 216 children. His visit was sponsored by Beta Alpha Chapter ESA and the Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

The Blackhawk senior boys basketball team beat Winslow, 76-29, and lost to Bentonville, 103-41.

Donna Cooper of Rogers, a 13th-line descendant of William Bradford, who observed the nation’s fi rst Thanksgiving Day, spoke in the first person as Dorothy May Bradford to students at Garfi eld Elementary School.

The junior high Blackhawk girls basketball team included Ronda Stanley, Gina Howell, Shelly Larson, Lori Cheek, Keri Aubrey, Tina Dean, Paige Vanlaningham, Christy Clark, Michelle Martin, Julie Paukune, Dawna Patterson, Cassie Webb, Stacie Collins, Tina Nichols, Wendy Dice, Jeannie Tillman, Lisa Larson, Missie Patton, Sheila Hook, Diane Segers, Paula Denman, Christy Johnson and Karen Sheppard.

Grant Hardin, a Pea Ridge High School band member, was named to the high school all-region band. He was the son of Jerald and Gaylene Hardin,Garfi eld.

Installed as new o◊cers of the Lost Bridge Area Men’s Club were Ben Volpe, president; Bill Bugner, vice president; and Bob White, secretary-treasurer.

Marsha Bloxham, Sheila Rizzio and Donna Griggs were awarded the NOARK Girl Scout Council President’s award which recognized service units who achieve council and service unit goals and objectives, encourage adult development and retention, reach membership goals, promote community involvement, keep troop leaders informed, submit recordsand reports on time.

The November star students were Kasey Tyra, Amber Ford, Billy Dorris, Jennifer Jones, Amy Whitaker, Elizabeth Miller, Matt Horton, Courtney Nelson, Shawn Snow, Matt Nida, Brandon Roughton, Bradley Carnes, Cassie Youngman, Josh Lee, Blair Hurd, Bryan McBurnett, Sara Ash, Josh Kern, Merry Miller and Aubrey Luster.

The Pea Ridge Christmas Parade winners included Brownie Troop 53 for best overall theme; My Kids Day Care, for best children’s float; and The Church of the Nazarene for mostreligious; and Lindsey Thomas, Ashley and Nicole Henson for most comical.

The Pea Ridge Masonic Lodge installed John Zolk, John Farrell and Scott Bounds as new o◊cers.

The senior county alltournament basketball team included Taylor Martindale, Bo Whitted, Haley Bone and Shawn Woods, MVP. The Blackhawk boys advanced to the championship by beating Siloam Springs 40-37. The Lady Blackhawks won the consolation game against Gravette 42-41.

NWACC honors society inducted 60 new members including Katherin Roper, Garfield; Lee Haverstick, Pea Ridge; and Jennifer Haverstick, Pea Ridge.
