Library Notes: Treats at library on Halloween

— Is it just me or does your house seem too quiet when the children and grandchildren go home after a few days visit? My son and grandson were in and out all week-end visiting Jacob’s favorite places - Fast Lanes, Chuck-e-Cheese and the Jump Zone - with a stop at Steak & Shake, McDonald’s and Sonic. It is always so good to see them and so hard to see them leave.

Interior work on the new library is moving along at a good pace thanks to city employees, Tony Townsend and Corey Flowers. Those guys are working hard to get the heat and air units installed. Each time I stop by, and that is often, I am amazed at the progress.

Things are really beginning to take shape.

Librarian Mrs. Peggy Maddox is continuing the Story Hour until mid-November. We will be taking a break then until after the holidays and possibly until after we get moved to the new building. I look forward to having much more room for activities like the Story Hour.

We are striving to keep new books that appeal to a wide group of readers and that really keeps me busy searching out good new releases. Please let us know if there is something special you would like to see in the library.

The library will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the trick or treat crowd on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Weare sure to see some great costumes.

Stop in this week and peruse the new books on the shelves.

See you at the library!
