Flying Mule 5K and mile run scheduled

— The Flying Mule 5K Run and Mule Mile will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.

The race, which will begin in front of the Primary School, will begin with the 5K at 7:30 a.m. and the Mule Mile at 8 a.m. The 5K will be standard 5-year age groups with awards going to the top three in each division and the overall winners. Entry fees for the 5K is $5 for 19 and over and $5 for 18 and younger.

The Mule Mile is a nonfee event with medals for all finishers. The event will award gold medals to at least the first place finishers in each single year age group from 5 - 14 years of age. Silver medals will also be awarded to at least all second place runners per age year and bronze medals to all other finishers.

This year’s race will be graded by the President’s Fitness Council Fitness Chart which could change the color of the medal earned. All runners who surpass the 85 percent level, as determined by the runner’s time and age, will earn a gold medal regardless of their finish order.

All runners who surpass 50 percent on the chart willearn silver medals, regardless of the finish.

There is no fee to enter the Mule Mile as it is being sponsored by the race director, John McGee.

Adults who enter the Mule Mile have no fee as well, although awards will be based on 5-year age groups.

T-shirts may be available for $7, making the 5K fee $12.
