GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER PARK

— School is almost out for the summer. At George Washington Carver National Monument on Saturday, May 19, there will be three special programs. Families may also hike the trails, see the park film, tour the exhibits, or complete the Jr.

Ranger badge requirements from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Come and explore this national park.

Old-Fashioned Toys andGames -11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Get moving with traditional games and toys. Join a park ranger at the Moses Carver House.

Buffalo Chips, Buckboards, and Bloomers - 3-4 p.m.

Wonders of the Night Sky - 9-10 p.m. Come explore the other half of the park after dark. The night sky is the largest natural resource at George Washington Carver NM. Learnabout celestial navigation, star stories, light pollution, and the link between the constellations and the Underground Railroad. This 30-minute long slide show will be followed by an outside constellation tour.

Kids will have a chance to earn a special Jr. Ranger Night Explorer patch after attending this program.
