COMMUNITY EVENTS: Rockin’ the Ridge slated

— The Pea Ridge Parks Commission will host “Rockin’ the Ridge” with the band 100 Proof from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Pea Ridge City Park. The concert is free to the public. There will be concessions on site.

Optimist Club selling flags

For an annual contribution of $30, the Pea Ridge Optimist Club will place a 3- by 5-foot American flag with a 10-foot metal pole curbside on the seven holidays days designated.

A metal sleeve will be installed 15 inches from the curb/edge of the road or from a mailbox, in which to place the flagpole.

Contributions will support community service projects for youth in the community, such as a college scholarship, essay contests, oratorical contests and various Optimist projects and programs.

Cutest Baby contest

“Cutest Baby” contest for children ages 0 to 2-years old will be held in conjunction with the Pea Ridge Fair, July 4-6.

Decorated boxes - with pictures only - should be brought to the Pea Ridge Fair at 6 p.m., July 3.

People visiting the fair can vote on their favorite girl or boy. Votes are a penny a vote, with all proceedsgoing to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Winners will be announced on July 7 and receive a trophy and sash.

Booths for Pea Ridge Mule Jump available

The 24th annual Pea Ridge Mule Jump is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13.

The events will begin at 9 a.m. and will include: halter class mule events, barrel races, flag races, pole bending and mule jumping.

Price for regular booth - 12 X 12 - is $50 and $30 for non-profit; booth with electricity is additional $20 for both vendor and nonprofit booths. Booth rentals include four vendor passes. For information, call City Hall at 451-1101.

Registration forms for Pea Ridge pageants

Registration forms for Pea Ridge pageants will be accepted through June 11. More contestants are needed for the 7- to 9-yearold and 10- to 12-year-old categories.
