Out of My Mind: Community writers win awards

— The cooperative work of many people makes The Times truly a community newspaper. Every pastor in the area has been invited to contribute a column regularly and many take advantage of that.

A new name in the list of writers is Jeff Billington who lives in Washington, D.C., but is originally from the Pea Ridge area. Billington contacted The Times volunteering columns and he won a third place award with one of his columns.

Other writers - Leo Lynch, Edyth Lammey, John McGee, Peggy Maddox (and formerly Linda Whitaker) - contribute regularly despite their very busy schedules. For that, we’re grateful. Each of them are truly winners.

Winning an award at the Arkansas Press Association is an honor, but the real honor is being invited into the homes of each of The Times’ readers. The Times’ readers contribute information and photographs helping to provide greater insight into this great community.

Thank you, readers and contributors, for makingThe Times a truly firstplace newspaper.
