Quilting offered

BUNKER HILL, Mo. — The Bunker Hill Quilt Club is still hand-quilting for the public. Persons interested, may stop by from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. any Thursday to ask about quilting. There are several baby quilts and a larger quilt for sale, as well as other handmade items. For information, call Thursdays at 223-5555 or Linda at 223-4684.

Square dances slated

A Mexican Fiesta Square Dance is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

A regular Ridge Rockers square dance is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan 27.

Coffee with Carver set

DIAMOND, Mo. — The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument invites you to attend “Coffee with Carver” at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, inside the visitor center. This new program will feature a different topic of conversation every third Thursday, Jan. - March. January’s conversation is the usefulness of all things. A park ranger will give a short talk showing examples of how George Washington Carver found value and beauty in common materials.

Afterwards, volunteer Gayle O’Hare will teach how to create make-andtake burlap flowers. Bring a friend and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

This program, for ages 18 and up, is free of charge and no reservations are required.

The monument is located two miles west of Diamond, Mo., on Missouri Highway V, then 1/4 mile south on Carver Road. For information, call the park at 417-325-4151 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
