Lately, it seems that there is not a spare minute in the library. Business must be slow for some book supply companies as I am starting to receive more and more phone calls. Sometimes it is difficult to get them off the phone in a polite manner.

Buying pencils that change colors is not my idea of a good way to spend library funds.

The library board of trustees met last Tuesday afternoon for a very productive meeting. We seem to have more and more to discuss, especially where the new library is concerned. We are trying very hard to include the things you want to see in the new building and are discussing hours of operation, programs, volunteers, etc.

There are so many things we want to offer once we are settled in the new location.

Last Thursday evening I was invited to the Pea Ridge Lions Club meeting in the SEEK building. I met a great group of people and had a delicious meal. After their meeting I was allowed to show the layout of the library and explain what is happening. There were donations of a microwave and a coffee maker for the library. Also offers to help with things like landscaping. Thank you for allowing me to talk about my favorite topic - the library.

That was my first time in the SEEK building. The historical society is doing a very good job getting that building in shape. I can’t wait to see it in a few months when they have it looking like it did in its early years.

The City of Pea Ridge is very fortunate to have such active groups as the Lions, Optimists and the Historical Society working to make our community better. These groups aredoing such good work for the community. Like the library, all these groups welcome your support.

Now is the perfect time to volunteer and get involved.

It is a great way to make new friends, connect with old friends and make a difference in our community.

The library received some large print Danielle Steel books, a couple of basic Spanish language books, and a couple of books on sign language.

We also had a donation of good magazines - Reader’s Digest, Guideposts, Birds & Blooms, Reminisce and National Geographic. Pick up one of these and leave it in the car. You can always take one in to your next doctor’s appointment. I feel sure our magazines are newer than those in the waiting room.

See you at the library!
