God’s Pantry blessed and blesses others

— Nearly speechless, Pattie Gardner of God’s Pantry, thanked state Senator Cecile Bledsoe for her generous donation of $880 which was the final amount needed to build a handicap ramp at the center in Garfield.

“This completes something the clients need desperately,” Gardner, director, said. “We are really blessed.”

“I feel blessed to be able to do it,” Bledsoe said. “It works both ways. I love helping people here.

They’re frugal with the money and are wonderful to work with.

They’re special.”

Gardner said a $1,000 donation from Wal-Mart was the initial funding for the wheelchair ramp which will cost $1,880. She said Pete Rathmell has helped God’s Pantry many times.

“I saw that Pete was trying to get a grant and realized I could provide that,” Bledsoe said.

God’s Pantry provides food and necessities to people in the northeast Benton County area. It is located at 17938 Dennis Mitchell Rd., Garfield, just south of U.S. Highway 62. For information about the hours, call 359-2079.
