— Sugar Creek Chapter of the Ozark Society

After a 10-year hiatus, the Sugar Creek Chapter of the Ozark Society will once again present monthly programs of environmental interest which are open to the general public.

A presentation about Dr. Neil Compton, who was the driving force behind forming the Ozark Society and saving the Buffalo River from being damned in the 1960s, will be presented at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Bentonville Public Library.

This virtual program about Dr. Compton will be the premier presentation of a recording of his impromptu speech about how the Buffalo River was saved.

New members and visitors will gain an understanding of environmental objectives and will meet current members who share the love of the Ozarks.

The meeting is open to the public. For information, got to ozarksociety.net, or call Joseph Meyer at 925-2290.
