Three youths killed deer during the first hunting season - Keith McElmurry, 15, with a nine-point buck, and Dennis, Bray, 15, of Garfield, with a 10-point buck.

The City Council voted to leave the rural fire assessments for 1972 at $12.

Council members also agreed to pay half of the bill to pave Conrad Street at a cost of $711.12; discussed the city’s financial statements and $1,800 in monthly salaries.

The Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner and installation of officers. John Knox was president, Jim Talbot was vice president and Eva Patterson was secretary-treasurer.

Robert Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Wood celebrated his second birthday with a birthday supper in the home of his parents. Attending the supper were his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Wood; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Ellis, his great-grandmother, Mrs.

Ernest Webb; and Mitchell Webb.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Davis of Rogers announce the birth of a son, Mark, on Nov. 13, at Rogers Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Davis is the former Linda Creekmore of Pea Ridge.

Pizza making was the order of the day when students from Gateway Chapel Christian Academy went to Pizza Hut, Pea Ridge, to learn to make their own pizza. Manager Beverly Nelson showed them how the dough is made and rolled, and then let them choose their own toppings.

The Garfield Town Council doubled a gift toNEBCO without even being asked to do so by the volunteer fire department. The council had earlier pledged a $500 cash gift to the Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department. Instead, the council voted to pay the complete cost of installing a 2-inch water main from an existing hydrant to the NEBCO station just completed in the southeast section of town. The cost was about $1,005.

The Pea Ridge Fire Department was to be rated by the Insurance Service Office of Oklahoma City;

Fire Chief Jerry Collinssaid the Fire Department is ready. Ratings by the ISO determine the amount of fire insurance premiums homeowners pay.

The Pea Ridge Blackhawk football season ended Saturday with what head coach Kevin Miller called the team’s best game of the year.

They ended the year 5-2 in the conference and beat Greenland 35-8 in the Pea Bowl. Quarterback Clifford Wood scored three touchdowns and fullback Ronald Leverich scored two touchdowns.

For the fourth year, PeaRidge High School students honored veterans in a ceremony at the school, Friday, Nov. 9. Lt. Gov.

Win Rockefeller was the featured speaker.

The Garfield rural extension water line south on Arkansas Highway 127 was one step closer to construction with the acceptance of a bid for property descriptions of easements at the City Council meeting.

Despite an obvious size disadvantage, the Class AA Lady Blackhawks gave the Class AAA Lady Tigers from Prairie Grove all they wanted and then some before falling 68-56 during the season opener for both teams Tuesday night.
