— The Library Board and I met with the architects and Mayor Crabtree Tuesday to review and make changes to the layout for the new location. A contract with a new roofing company has been signed and if the weather cooperates, the work will be completed before Thanksgiving.

When the gas company came out to turn on the gas, we learned we had a major gas leak and the meter was pulled. The city got bids and at the meeting on Tuesday, the mayor told us that Michael Herzberg of Town and CountyPlumbing was donating the materials and labor. Somehow a simple “thank you” does not seem to express our gratitude to Mr. Herzberg and his employees. Contributions like this mean so much to the library.

Not much work has been taking place at the new location lately but once the roof isfinished and the gas is turned out, I feel sure demolition will continue. Volunteers, just call the library and I will let you know what is happening and when.

There are a number of books on order and a few new ones ready for checkout. “Killing Lincoln” by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard is one of those. This week I will be ordering a copy of “Duty Bound” by Van Hawkins from the Arkansas State University Museum. This is the story of the Hyatt Family of Monticello who sent four sons to fight inthe Civil War and only one returned. Three of the Hyatts served in the legendary Third Arkansas infantry.
