Ringing in the holiday season

— The annual Pea Ridge Christmas parade was well attended despite being rescheduled a week. The parade is sponsored by Beta Alpha.

Following the parade, which ended downtown at North CurtisAvenue and Pickens Road, the Pea Ridge High School Blackhawk played a couple of tunes then the lights were turned on by Street Department employee Gary Tuszynski.

Many people visited the Pea Ridge Historical Museum, open for the occasion, and were treatedto refreshments and demonstrations of various crafts, including bobbin-lace making.

Santa held court in City Hall, sponsored by the city Water Department.

The parade, which had originally been scheduled for Dec. 3, was rescheduled due to rain. It wasrained out in 1999 and rescheduled a week later, also.

Winners of the annual parade were: Jerry Townsend with a 1930 Model A Ford truck, best childrens; Scout Troop No. 5456, best theme and most religious; and Crossbrand Cowboy Church, best equestrian.
