Pea Ridge Library book sale well attended

— Thanks to all of you who braved the rain on Saturday afternoon and evening to shop at the library book sale. Considering the weather, I thought we had a very good turnout. Our prices were good and some people went home with a lot of books.

The library owes a debt of gratitude to so many people who helped make this sale possible. Members of the Cannonball 4-H Club assisted with the set-up and with the sale on Saturday. We also had several individuals who helped make short work of the set up. Thank you to everyone who donated books, plastic bags for the sale and their time to this fundraising effort. I am deeply grateful.

It was a disappointment that the annual Christmasparade had to be canceled due to the rain. I have heard that it may be rescheduled for Dec. 10, weather permitting. If so, the book sale will be open again. We never give up!

Please check the library’s Facebook page or call the library to find out for sure. The furnace in the new building isn’t working properly and a part has been ordered.

This may play a big part in determining if we have a sale on the Dec. 10.

We still have a large number of very good books in both paperback and hardcover. We received a large donation of medical books which we are offering for free. As always, we have a lot of good used books for sale in the library.

Several people donated money to the library building fund Saturday and we are very pleased.

A contribution to the library is a great way to honor someone - living or dead. Over the years we have received many donations in memory of a family member or friend.

Two ladies have talked with me about starting A Friend’s of the Pea Ridge Library group. You will be hearing more about this after the first of the year.

Typically a Friend’s group helps raise money for a library among things.

If you are interested in becoming a member, just give me a call at the library.

A floor plan for the new library layout was on display at the book sale. If you didn’t get by to see it, drop by the library. Give us your feedback - many people have seen it and the feedback has been quite positive. Remember, this is your library and we want it to meet your needs.

Please plan to drop by the library from 10 a.m.

to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec.

15, for the annual open house. We will have lots of goodies - we look forward to seeing everyone.

In closing, I want to also say thank you for all the positive comments I am hearing regarding the library and this column.

The members of the Library Board and I continue to work hard for our patrons.
