Pryor speaks to Democrats

— Arkansas’ distinguished politician, former governor and senator, David Pryor, will speak to the Benton County Democrats at a luncheon at 11:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at the Bentonville Clarion Hotel.

Pryor was educated at the University of Arkansas where he received his LL.B. In 1960 he was elected to the Arkansas State House of Representative, and then served in the U.S. House of Representative from 1966 until 1974 when he was elected governor of Arkansas. Pryor served as U.S.

Senator from 1980 to 1996.

His many positions ofinfluence since then include being a Fulbright Fellow of Law and Public Affairs, a Fellow and then Director at the Institute of Politics at the Harvard University John F.

Kennedy School of Government, a board member of WinRock International and Heifer Project International, Inc. He is a past board member of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. His autobiography, “A Pryor Commitment,” has published in 2008 and it chronicles his four decades of dedication to politics, government and public service.

He served as interimchairman of the Democratic Party of Arkansas after the tragic death of Bill Gwatney in 2008. He and his wife are founders of the David and Barbara Pryor Center for Oral and Visual History at the University of Arkansas. They are also the parents of Sen.

Reserved tickets are $12, or $15 at the door. Limited seating is available for those not having the buffet. The pubic is invited.
