The headline read “’Tis a great day for Pea Ridge graduates,” as 17 of the 19 graduates were pictured on the front page. Mark Lasater was 1970 valedictorian, with Linda Bell as salutatorian.

The Miss Nanny Roberts Memorial Library Fund stood at a balance of $172.02, after two recent contributions of $10.

In the class of 1970 prophecy, compiled by Ray Easley, he predicted Pea Ridge senior John Lasater would be living in Las Vegas and owning the Golden Slipper casino. His cousin, Mark Lasater, would also frequent the casino.

Pea Ridge City Council, along with the mayor, issued a statement at the special Saturday morning meeting after an executive session that they could find no basis regarding the accusation that the City of Pea Ridge police car driven by Chief Loyd Pifer had been used outside the city on unofficial business.

Jerry L. Marple, Pea Ridge High School principle for the previous three years, signed a contract to become principal for the Cassville, Mo., R-4 schools.

Pea Ridge High School valedictorian in 1980 was Rick Brown, with Jan Lookadoo named salutatorian.

Rogers School District’s superintendent eased minds of concerned Garfield residents and said the Garfield school would not be closed or relocated, but instead he believed the existing facility would be used another eight to10 years.

Virgie Hazelton, cochair of the 1990 Pea Ridge fair, said now was the time to reserve booth space for the upcoming event in July.

Seven building permits were issued so far in that year for new homes in Pea Ridge, which was more than the entire previous year.

Drainage problems were the topic of the Pea Ridge City Council meeting. The group discussed problems on Henry Little Circle and Greene Street the previous spring and now the issue was inGivens subdivision on N. Ark. Hwy. 94.

The 48 seniors making up Pea Ridge High School’s class of 2000 decided to celebrate the ending of their high school career in a traditional way with the ceremony taking place on the local football field.

Matthew Easterling was named a Campus VIP for the 1999-2000 school year at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Easterling was a physical education major and was voted by the Williams student body to be VIP.
