Graduating senior, migrant eligible or who was migrant eligible when they entered the ninth grade, plan to attend college or other advance training.

VFW Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship

Regional - $5,000

Deadline: March 1

Outstanding scout who is the recipient of a Boy Scout Eagle award, registered active member of a troop, demonstrated citizenship at school, scouting and community

Submit the completed application to the VFW post by the deadline date.

Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas

State - $500

Deadline: April 14

Hispanic Heritage/Origin, academic record, leadership activities or family responsibilities, financial need, seriousness of purpose in relation to educational program being pursued, male or female may apply.

Separate application available in scholarship office or on scholarship page of school’s Web site, essay, two references, transcript.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock Science Scholars

College - up to 18 @ $10,000 per year

Priority Deadline: Feb. 1

Plan to attend UALR, talented and financially needy, major in biology, chemistry or geology, apply to FAFSA, U.S. citizen or legal alien, minimum 3.0 GPA, minimum 24 ACT, www.ualr.edu/sciencescholarship.

Letters of recommendation.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program (LSAMP)

College - $800 per semester

Priority Deadline: Feb. 1

Under-represented minority planning to attend UALR, talented and financially needy, major in biology, chemistry or geology, apply to FAFSA, U.S. citizen or legal alien, minimum 2.9 GPA, minimum 19 ACT www.ualr.edu/lsamp.

If accepted, must attend a six-week summer academy (students will receive room, board, travel monies, and stipend to attend).

Susan G. Komen for the Cure College Scholarship Program

National - $10,000 year up to 4 years.

Deadline: Feb. 15

Have lost a parent/guardian to breast cancer or be a breast cancer survivor, high school senior, plan to attend an Arkansas state-supported college or university, minimum 2.8 GPA, U.S. citizen or documented permanent resident, financial need, community involvement, academic achievement www.komen.org/ResearchGrants/CollegeScholarshipAward.html.

FEEA Scholarship Program

National - $250-$7,500

Deadline: March 26

Dependent of a civilian federal or postal employee for at least three years, graduating high school senior planning to attend college full-time fall 2010, minimum 3.0 GPA - www.feea.org.

Garfield Elementary PTO Scholarship

Regional -$500 minimum

Deadline: April 26

Minimum three years attendance atGarfield Elementary, attend an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school.

Letter of recommendation, transcript, test scores.

Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary

Regional -$500

Deadline: March 3

Graduating senior, minimum 3.0 GPA, planning to pursue a medical profession, has given volunteer time at Mercy Medical Center.

Regional National - Three per Division, $1,000-$2,500

High school senior, child or stepchild, grandchild or step grandchild of U.S. wartime veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for memberships in The American Legion, 50 hours community service, essay, references.
