Joe Calvin Dawson

Joe Calvin Dawson, 77, of Pea Ridge died Aug. 16, at his home. He was born Jan.

16, 1933, in Tulsa, Okla., to Delpha Hattee Creekmore and Loyd Vernal Dawson.

He played Santa Claus for area businesses, was a locksmith, drove a school bus for Pea Ridge public schools and served in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Harvey Stead of Pea Ridge and Angel Sullivan of Springdale; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Honor Guard of Northwest Arkansas from Rogers.

Cremation arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home in Bentonville.

Bobbie J. Green

Bobbie J. Green, 81, of Pea Ridge, died Friday, Aug. 20, at her home. She was born Sept. 6, 1928, at Ramona, Okla., to Lester Thompson and Mary Ruth Hamilton Thompson.

She was a lifelong resident of Ketchum, Okla., before moving to Pea Ridge three years ago. She enjoyed bingo, going to casinos, her grandkids and great-grandkids. She wasa Baptist and a member of the American Legion in Afton, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Green in September of 2000; her parents; one brother, Lester Thompson; and one sister, Mary Mowry.

Survivors include a son, Randall Green and wife, Cindy, of Claremore, Okla.; a daughter, Debra Robbins and husband, Bill, of Pea Ridge; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at McLaughlin Cemetery in Cleora, Okla., with chaplain Sam Garner officiating.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

There was no visitation.

Jack Dwain Hefner

Jack Dwain Hefner, 63, of Garfield, died Aug. 21. He was born on Aug. 9, 1947, in Stillwater, Okla., to Jack and Dollie Hefner.

He married Helen Margaret Johnson on Aug. 30, 1969, in Tulsa, Okla.

Hefner graduated fromNortheastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla., receiving a bachelor of arts in industrial technology and later received an associate’s degree in anthropology from Purdue University.

He worked for Cherokee Nation Distributors, where he received multiple awards for the design and manufacturing of wiring harnesses for the Hellfire Missile systems. Upon leaving Cherokee Nation Distributors, he “retired” to Garfield, where he established Beaver Lake Pest Control, which he operated until his death.

As a young man, Hefner became fascinated with everything mechanical, establishing many lifelong friends through his passion, and when not working, he could be found pursuing his passion of building hotrods, motorcycle and boats.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; his mother, Dollie Hefner-Hutchinson;

two sons, Jack Berkeley Hefner and Alan Nicholas Hefner, both of Tahlequah;

and three grandchildren, Montana, Alora and Lillian Rae Hefner.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, in Rollins Funeral Home.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug.

26, in the chapel of RollinsFuneral Home.

Burial will be in Ruddick Cemetery near Garfield.

Donna Faye Henson

Donna Faye Henson, 66, of Pea Ridge, died Sunday, Aug. 22, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton Co.

She was born Aug. 19, 1944, at Auburn, Neb., to Sidney Leonard Byrom and Ella Darlene Cook Byrom.

She moved from Nebraska to Arkansas in 1969 to make her home and was employed at CTS in Bentonville in parts assembly.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jimmy Henson in 1994; and one sister, Alice Darlene Gerber.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Downs and her husband, James, of Bentonville; two granddaughters, Emily Downs and Grace Downs of Bentonville; two sisters, Glynda Lucille Palmer of Nemaha, Neb., and Marilyn Willis of Nebraska City, Neb.,; and one brother, Sidney Raymond Byrom of Branson, Mo.

Visitation is set for 6 - 8p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Pea Ridge Cemetery with pastor Rick Booyer officiating.

James Douglas Shepperd, 66, of Lake Worth, Texas, died Aug. 12 at his home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1943, in Rogers.

He graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1961, and joined the United States Air Force, serving four years. Shepperd worked as a time standards analyst and industrial engineer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeside in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth (Johnson) Shepperd; and his parents, Charles and Marvine (Coonfield) Phillips.

Survivors include his son, Jason Douglas Shepperd of the home; one granddaughter, Rebecca “Becca” Shepperd, and her mother, Barbara Shepperd, of Lake Worth; three brothers, Steven L. Sheppard of Pea Ridge, William R. “Bill” Sheppard and hiswife, Kathy, of Washburn, Mo., and Dwane A. Phillips and LoEllen of Rogers; one sister, Charlotte (Phillips) Caldwell and Curtis of Oklahoma City, Okla.; an aunt, Jimmie Russell and Al of Bentonville;

and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shepperd received a military honor service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23.

A memorial service was held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at First Baptist Church of Lakeside, Fort Worth, Texas.

Opal Smith

Opal Smith, 87, of Pea Ridge died Aug. 22, in Bentonville. She was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Bedford, Iowa, to Charles and Evelyn Mellinger Parmenter.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Francis Carroll Smith of the home; children, Dianna Smith Vigil of Washburn, Mo., and Danny Smith of Bella Vista; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
