Events slated honoring veterans

Les Hinton, a Korean War veteran, will be the grand marshal of the annual Pea Ridge Veterans Parade scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

Hinton, 90, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950. He has been a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for more than 20 years and was post commander for VFW Post 4205 in 2009-2010.

Several events are scheduled to honor veterans in Pea Ridge. Veterans are invited to each event.

The Pea Ridge Intermediate School Veterans Day assembly is set for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the Intermediate School gym.

The parade is set for 1 p.m. Saturday. The staging area is on Townsend Way behind Equity Bank north of Slack Street. Staging begins at noon. There is no fee for floats. Community participation is welcomed and encouraged, according to organizer Chris Snow. Veterans are encouraged to drive or be driven in the parade or ride on a float.

The Pea Ridge High School Veterans Day Assembly is set for 10 a.m. 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the high school gym and is sponsored by the PRHS Student Council.
