Veterans History Project

Col. (Ret.) Anita Deason, senior military and veterans liaison for U.S. Sen. John Boozman, will discuss her work with the Arkansas Veterans Oral History Project at noon Wednesday, May 16, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Col. Deason has trained more than 400 Arkansans to conduct and submit interviews with local veterans as part of a nationwide effort to preserve and make accessible the personal stories of American war veterans. All interviews are housed at the Library of Congress. To date, the stories of 1,200 veterans from Arkansas have been recorded.

Coded Letters

The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History will explore ways Civil War soldiers wrote secret letters during wartime in a program called "Coded Letters" from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 19. Kids of all ages are invited to make their own coded letter to send to a relative or special friend. The program is part of the museum's Shiloh Saturday series for families.
